(Title – もっと 野菜 を 食べた 方がいい。- Motto Yasai wo Tabeta Hougaii. – You Should Eat More Vegetables)
This would be the last update for BTM for now. I will put it on hiatus to focus more on CL. After CL, I’ll continue this then move on to CL2. I’m sorry. I’ll make sure to continue this again after CL is finished.
“Yuichi? What are you doing here?!” Kichirō exclaimed.
“Should I have a reason to be here?” Yuichi rebutted.
Mizudori snickered when he heard this. Kichirō, who was lying on the bed, glared at the ‘rabbit.’ Mizudori just turned away and continued laughing to himself. “What an unexpected turn of events, ha ha. I can’t recall that this happened,” he said to himself.
Kichirō did not know how to react to Yuichi’s rebuttal, whether he should talk back or just ignore the other boy. In the end, he just feigned a weak look in an attempt to continue with his false pretense that he was sick. There was a heavy atmosphere within the infirmary as the two gazed awkwardly at each other.
Kichirō decided to break the silence: “Ano~ where’s your brother?” Kuso, how come he’s here? This didn’t happen before!
“I’m the one who’s here. Why are you looking for somebody else?” His tongue was really sharp.
“How did you get here anyways?”
“I went through the gate.”
Mizudori could not help it. He laughed out loud as he rolled into thin air. Kichirō casually threw a pillow to the floating ‘rabbit,’ making Mizudori bump into the wall. “Hey, ouch!”
“Come with me,” Yuchi plainly said.
“Why should I go with you?” Kichiro curiously asked.
“Because I said so.” Without letting the other boy speak, Yuichi pulled Kichiro by the hand, forcing the other boy to get out of the bed.
“Where are you taking me?”
“Just follow me.”
Kichirō hurriedly put on his shoes and took his bag from off the sidetable. He had no other option but to follow Yuichi. He thought that by following the other boy, it would lead him to Shirō. He did not want to change history’s course in any way, but it appeared that history was undeniably changing. Where could he be taking me to? He wondered.
It was already lunch time. Just like in his memories, he skipped class, but it was with Shirō. Now, he skipped class to be with Yuichi. The radiant sun finally decided to reveal its golden rays as it peaked through the fluffy white clouds. The two leisurely walked along the busy streets of Shinjuku. The mottled shade of the evergreen trees flitted across this bustling district of Tokyo.
Yuichi walked ahead of Kichirō, while the latter and Mizudori followed after. Kichirō fixed his gaze at the other boy’s back. He really resembled Shirō but had a jet black, clean-cut hair and a domineering stature. It was funny how fate and divinity played with their lives. Kichirō still could not believe that his beloved has a twin brother, the one that he despised the most, next to Miyuki.
After a few minutes of walking in silence, Mizudori finally decided to speak: “Ren, where could Yuichi-kun be taking us? Could it be that he was intending to murder you to keep his brother away from you?!?”
“Stop it. It’s not funny,” Kichirō stopped the other from writing his script to this thriller play. “I think Shirō might have something to do with this.”
“So you mean Shirō-kun asked his brother to pick you up for him? Or could it be that he wanted you to become closer, you become friends, and then end up in a heart-breaking threesome affair?”
“Ugh, Mizudori. I’m thinking that you might have been some kind of script writer in your past life. You should stop day dreaming. That will never happen.” Author-sama thinks so, too. XD “Let’s just ask him directly to get this over with.”
Before Kichirō could have asked, Yuichi had already turned his back, he asked: “Where do you want to eat?”
Upon hearing the mere word ‘eat,’ Kichirō felt his stomach rumbling. He felt listless when he realized that he had not yet eaten since he came to school. “I want to eat some sweet bean mochi and rice crackers. Oh, and a lot of strawberry milk, please,” Kichirō sheepishly smiled as he specifically enumerated all of the things he wanted to eat.
“Baka, you should eat something healthy. How about some American cuisine for a change? Look at how thin you are. You should eat more,” Yuichi pointed out.
“That’s the problem. He always eats a lot! ha ha,” Mizudori chuckled.
Kichirō rolled his eyes in dismay because of what that noisy babbling ‘rabbit’ had said, but in the end, he nodded in response.
Yuichi, with a straight face, then said: “Okay, let’s go. I know a good place.”
The two walked toward the business district. Since it was a weekday and it was already a few minutes after lunch time, there was only a few people within this district. After some time, Kichirō finally smelled the appetizing fragrance of the various dishes that wafted out from the nearby restaurants. This made his stomach growl even more. He looked around and took note of every delicacy that was presented on every cafe and restaurant they passed by.
Unknowingly, Yuichi was observing Kichirō’s ever-changing facial expressions. Could you imagine that a smart guy like Kichirō would even have an idiotic look, just because of the thought of food? He secretly smiled to himself. The invisible Mizudori caught sight of this rarely-seen smiling expression. He knew very well that Yuichi did not smile quite often, not unless he was genuinely happy. His heart suddenly thumped.
Yuichi pointed toward a restaurant a few meters away from them, then said: “This is the place.” He then went over to the staff that was receiving the customers at the entrance to inquire.
Kichirō looked at the place with fervor. He started salivating at the thought of eating something delicious. He then swallowed hard. “Let’s get in. Hara hetta (I’m hungry)!”
“You’re always hungry. I wonder how deep is your stomach. Maybe you’re a cow with four stomachs ha ha!” Mizudori chuckled.
Kichirō gritted his teeth, then he exclaimed: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, just go home! You can’t have a bite of what I’ll be eating.”
“I was just kidding ha ha. Okay, I’ll be quiet just like a real rabbit.”
After the two finished bickering, Yuichi beckoned, hinting Kichirō to follow after him. Without any hesitations, Kichirō walked over toward his direction. What else could be the most precious thing to Kichirō other than his stomach?
Inside the restaurant, the sweet aroma drifted in the air. There were a lot of customers, though it was already a little after high noon. “Good thing there’s available seats,” Yuichi shortly said. Kichirō nodded in response.
The waiter guided the two with a smiling face (well three) to their designated table. While they were on their way, Kichirō suddenly spoke: “I need to pee.” He flurried toward the rest room after saying that.
Mizudori did not follow after him, he just chose to stay with Yuichi. Yuichi sat on the chair with an impatient facade. After a few minutes of waiting, he could not take it anymore so he beckoned a waiter to order. Mizudori just listened to the waiter and Yuichi conversing. After he heard what Yuichi ordered for Kichirō, a faint smiling expression was revealed on his face.
While waiting for Kichirō, Yuichi just sat leisurely with his legs crossed. His brows were a little bit furrowed. After a few minutes, Kichirō finally appeared. He was wiping his hands with his handkerchief. “Sorry, my tummy’s a bit upset,” he wryly smiled. Yuichi did not respond but he just stared at the other boy.
Kichirō sat down opposite of Yuichi. Mizudori hovered beside Kichiro and decided to sit on Kichiro’s shoulder. “So, did Shi-kun ask you to take me out on a date?”
Yuichi’s cheeks blushed then he blurted out: “Who said this is a ‘date?’ I’m just merely following what my Aniki wanted me to do. Don’t think that I like you or something, hmpf!”
“Hold on, I didn’t say that. I never assumed that you like me or anything. I was just casually talking with you. If you want to comply with what your brother wants, then you should be genuine enough in befriending me. Does that make any sense to you?” Kichirō retorted.
Yuichi was stunned. He did not expect to hear that from the other. He tilted his head then touched his chin, then said: “Let me think about it.”
“Whoa, you invited me over and I’m the one who needs to adjust? ha ha,” Kichirō awkwardly laughed.
“Ren, this Onīsan has some guts, ne?” Mizudori whisphered.
The two continued remaining silent as they waited for the food they ordered. After about five minutes, the waiter came and brought their order. Kichirō’s eyes glimmered and followed every action the waiter made. His gaze was fixed on the tray that the waiter was holding. When the waiter placed the food on top of the table, Kichirō’s eyes opened wide: “What’s this?”
“Dear sir, that would be a turkey-ham on whole-wheat sandwich with brussle sprouts,” the waiter said.
Kichirō’s face, that was originally pale, turned to green. “Why did you order vegetables for me?” He sulked.
“You need to eat healthy food. You look like a twig.”
“Ren, you said I can’t have a bite of what you’ll be eating. You can have all of it ha ha,” Mizudori chuckled.
To be continued…
